Just installed today. First fire reached 500(my fault, i put four pieces of 3/4x1 1/2 under kindling and that was too much… should have used kindling only) and set off smoke detectors until open windows aired things out. Second fire, kindling only, reached 350with a much shorter duration of smoke detectors. Third fire, 450 or so and long term smoke alarms again. Just wondering if this is a long process and how many burns it takes? I let it cool to less than 100 before the next burn. Should i wait until it’s stone cold? One thing I’ve learned so far, this stoves doesn’t need much fuel to get HOT!

Any info/advice much appreciated! -john

It's a good idea to open the window and if possible with a fan in it to exhaust the paint fumes. It sounds like you are close. The paint needs to get >500º to break in. Take the stovetop up to 600º with a full load and it should be done.

PS: I'm assuming this is a new stove and not a used one.

Very good. Fan has been in window since starting the most recent burn and I’m wishing it wasn’t only 20F outside. Smoke alarms are chirping less but still annoying. It reached 600F. Tomorrow I’ll continue the cycle of 600 and let cool. I may have to send my wife on a shopping spree.
Yes, this is a new stove and thank you for the encouragement!

Tomorrow should be much better and the window will hopefully be able to stay closed.

We should be good to go now. I think the magic temp is 700F. Two cycles yesterday and no more stink or annoying smoke alarms today. I will say this stove will be a good fit for what we need. It puts out more heat with less fuel than the Liberator for sure.
Thanks again for the help!
