From what I've seen, the mills that use logs or chips for a fiber source don't and probably can't produce the same quality pellets as mills with a dedicated fiber souce, so I think this disparity in pellet qulity will always exist.

Not always the case. Vermont wood pellets is also log to chip. And they are a pretty good rival to the mills with a dedicated source. They have worked hard to get there and have done an awesome job IMHO. GAP/Power House were also doing well as a log to chip pellet. But they seemed to have slipped and the ash content is hurting them some. But they have a dense pellet.

Which Geneva pellet are you referring to?

Big sister to Maine Choice. If Geneva could improve their density, I think they could gain a larger following.

Finally a pellet that's CHEAPER up here! Seen em at 209 in some places lately. Big box bagging but same pellet

I can get them for $209 at TSC when they have them. I have a few bags in the stash. If it wasn't for HD have the PTL's I would be buying the MWP. PTL are also $209/ton But this Turman deal was a shocker, as the price rivaled the box stores with a discount coupon.

Damn Jay...you did "steal" them then!!! That's like a super score!

NICE...you must have swung by Cozy Barn!!! Beer and pellets, how can on go wrong? Are they still $250 a ton?

$240 a ton/ $4.80 a bag.

Oh that's right...my math sucks....lol Do they still carry the Hamers, I didn't see any last time I was there? I got one bag left from last year, not sure what the heck I'm saving it for.....

They had Hamers not sure of $

Jay why only 1 ton at such a great $

I was only offered 1 ton and luckily it was all I had room for anyway. I had almost refilled my stash last weekend, But I am glad I waited.

Nice Score.

Hey Jay:
I am jealous, down to 8 bags. I too have a pellet fairy, but have to go & get them. Home Depot is selling
American Wood Fiber, $176/ton. The one's I get are Country Boy.
Stay Warm!

$176 for AWF sounds like a nice deal. What are they getting for the Country Boy's?

Nice Score.

I wish I could get em for the $240 you are paying. I would have a full stash of Turmans at all times! Current price is $295/ton, Spring deal is normally $260 ish.

I got a bag of Greenway Super Premiums from two years ago I believe...lol I GOT IT BAD I think!!!!!!!!

Carefull, It only gets worse. I can't bring myself to burn the good stuff and I am slowly filling my stash with them. If I keep this up I'll have no room for economy pellets! I'll have to keep doing weekly trips to the boxes like the old days!

lol...that's what I'm doing...I have like 3 ton on hand of 'Sets and 1/2 tons of other stuff and I'm "stopping by" Lowes and HD's grabbing a few bags of Chows and Greene Teams......BTW....the current batch of GT's seem to be a little less ashy than the stuff I got last year...still good heat too! I'll be "stopping by" Lowes today for more GT's...WTF is wrong with me? lololol

You know it's a good year for raw fiber material when we are burning PTL's, GT's, etc as "shoulder" pellets! They are very good pellets this year...imo....

The only thing shoulder about them is the price! I think we should say economy pellets so we don't tick off the natives! PTL's handled 0::F no problem. I haven't seen much for GT's this season and when I did they were certainly not priced in the economy range.

The GT's have been priced at $209 a ton all season long down here....when they had them in stock. Lowes just got a new shipment in a week or so ago. I would NEVER pay what other people were up north in the $260 on up range.....THAT is crazy! Like Will too, we can get Turman for $240 which...imo....blows the GT's away.....

The GT's have been my go-to pellet for 80% of this winter. Only burned about 15 bags of the Sets when we had that real cold spell.

Once the warmer weather sets in, I'll be bringing a ton of the poor Clean Fire's (NEWP) in from the shed for spring heating.
