i was trying to find what the common distance between "tractor" axles was so you could get a sense of scale then measure the logs....but i couldn't find one.
Your brother got an honest deal.my brother paid about $700 for a picker load of cherry logs.....think he said he got about 7-8 cord.......but that was a couple of years ago in upstate n.y.
50 foot trailer x 8.5 ft wide x 8.5 ft tall x 2/3 use factor = ~2380 cubic feet of wood / 256 cubic feet / cord => ~9.3 cords of wood in that trailer.
Maybe a bit generous, but probably not by much.
I say just measure it. For speculation do you think each bundle is about 8 by 8 by 8? That would put it over 10 cords. If you go to HF they often have free tape measures.
I don't think the trailers are 8 ft wide - < 6 I think.
Length looks like 8 ft. Eyeball the stack height at 6 ft
((6X8X6)X3)/128 = 6.75 at most
Ditto. Maybe start a paypal account that way we can put 5 dollars a piece in to go to the "how much wood is on the trailer" fund.i think he should buy it then let us know how many it was
sure....we could make a lottery out of it. the closest wins 1/2 the pot....the other 1/2 goes to the OP.Ditto. Maybe start a paypal account that way we can put 5 dollars a piece in to go to the "how much wood is on the trailer" fund.
I've bought 3 cords of logs before from a firewood seller. Each stack is larger than the load I received. It looks like there's at least 9 cord there, if not more. Personally I wouldn't do it. I can buy wood cut/split and seasoned for about 100-120 a cord. But if your in an area that sells it for 200+ a cord and you don't have time to scrounge or a place to cut, I'd buy it.
