LFP battery, why does altitude matter?

I think the insulating properties of air decrease with decreasing pressure.
That affects design (possibly of inverters more than battery cells).
 
Sealed pouch style batteries (all batteries really) expand and contract. More explanation higher elevations??
 


Why does the altitude matter? Maybe boiling point?
Almost certainly an air-cooling issue. Less dense air gives much less cooling.

I used to work on a particle physics experiment with high power electronics, and we had to operate at the altitude of the los Alamos national lab (LANL), which is almost 8000'. Everything tended to overheat there....

They have few enough customers above 2000m that it doesn't pay to engineer it for higher than that.
 
I guess you need to draw the line somewhere. And that probably easier than an altitude temperature chart.
