Ok so in your case the support box will be mounted at roof level with framing added between the rafters to support it

Side question to this comment: Is it generally OK to secure the support box directly to a rafter/truss, then frame out the remaining three sides to the next rafter/truss over? Or do you need to have the support box midway between the 24" OC rafters/trusses?

It can be mounted anywhere between the trusses it doesn't matter
