Thank you..

I also put a screw in the main doghouse hole.

Over Night load -> sometimes I’m too tired, and there is enough of hot ash. After loading, I close everything down and let the fire do its own thing. In the morning everything is always burnt and I’m only left with hot ashes, coals. Am I getting a good fire / heat fire using this method or it’s completely wrong ??

Sounds about right. It's not a huge firebox, around 2.2 cu ft is what I remember.

Hi All,

I wanted to give a follow up on this block off plate install, mainly for anyone that is one the fence about doing one. We have had a cold snap here in PA starting last week, lows in the lower 20s and highs in the mid 30s or so. Prior to my block off plate, Id be lucky to get my house heated to 68, and the heat pump (thermostat set to 66f) would have run between loads during the same conditions. Last night before turning in for the night, my downstairs was 73f, and upstairs was 66f. Heat pump is running about a half hour in the morning to help heat the house up in the morning a little quicker. Its been a huge win for me.

If your on the fence about a block off plate, do it. Its not that hard, and its going to change your wood burning experience.

Thanks for looping back to share! I have yet to do mine, since I am probably overthinking it. Did you end up doing it as two U-shaped sheets?

That exactly what I did. I screwed them together with sheet metal screws. I bought a cheap (ish) sheet metal break from Harbor freight to make flaps for attaching the plate to the interior brick.
