I ahve had the same questions over the past year on this board. Some burn pine almost exclusively and others wont touch it..I wont burn in inside, but I also have endless supply of hardwood.
For the maple, it is one of my favorite burning woods. I also really like cherry..Oak is super but you need to dry it at leat 12 months in my opinion. (maple being the only hard maple which is sugar maple) if the maple is a soft maple it isnt as good as hard maple but its still better than PINE!
