Is is safe to burn scraps of dimensional lumber?

I guess pellet burners are DOOMED !! Pellets are made from the byproducts of processing dimensionalm lumber. Planer shavings,sawdust,chips,etc.
Here's the real truth.
Green lumber treatment is used in the hotter months for temporary treatment of lumber before shipment.
Long term storage of green lumber rarely occurs today. "Just in time" green orders and shipments are the norm these days.
Any treatment used is usually Boron based, not chemicals.

That thought never even came to my mind.

The article also refered to lubricants used on saw blades. I don't recall ever seeing any lubricants used in the dimensional mill (maybe used in a hardwood mill ???). I know none were used on the input decks prior to sorting for plywood or lumber. But using that reference I would imagine that if a lubricant is used there would be no more present than would come from your chain oiler.

not all green lumber is shipped just in time,many times pallet stock and frame stock lumber(used for couches etc) are air dried for many months because of the cost effectiveness of the process,(it is not prudent to add 50 % to cost of material for kiln drying)also,much lumber is stacked on breeze dried type sticks which allows for effective primary case hardening and takes the urgency out of shipping the lumber.lumber can now be effectively accumulated for weeks with no danger of appearance alteration and chemicals are part of the equation.....

look at the big picture,some lumber comes right of a sawmills green table right intotheir own kilns,(nothing required to preserve lumber)other lumber is sold from a sawmill in green form to a wholesale yard who will dry dry the lumber(more time involved,greater chance of chemical treatment)some lumber goes from the sawmill direct to the end user(manufacturer)and will be most likely as you say just in time(they need it now for their upcomming production).there is no standard answere in the lumber business but i wish there was

Naah.....I used to burn that stuff in my barn stove all the time. Like Lee said above, if that really was the case, pellet stoves users are in trouble. Thats what alot of those pellets are made out of.
