Holy moly, I didn't expect to check back in and find accusations of straw men. The internet is wild.

Thank you everyone for all the input. I do know that having saw dust around is dangerous, and can possibly result in a moulin rouge situation. To be clear, I am by no means a regular woodworker but more of a handyman, and really can't see myself producing dust in such concentrations as to make it dangerous. I also have an air scrubber and vacuums attached to all my larger wood working tools. I'll be careful.
