I took the flex as being his 4" and the class A as double wall that the flex is running up into, no ?
From the early photos, that nasty crumpled flex appears to have been there right after he removed the old wood stove. I could be wrong. It happens once a year............ ;em:ZZZ;sick

I stuffed my liner in from the bottom up. I felt a little nuts doing it but then my stepson who worked for a contractor for a decade or so said they have installed liners top down or bottom up.
Are you sure you even need the liner though ?

Well I still need to get on the roof so probably just go from top down. Thou it may be easier to go bottom op rather han cariing the thin up a 32' ladder then just go up ladder to secure.

I can't believe they used that flex to vent the wood stove with no double wall or insulation around it. It appears to be laying against the insulation and, perhaps, studs.
I bet by now you wish you had gone with the direct vent out the back of the chimney structure! :) Or perhaps another family member to go unnamed nixed that idea...............

The class-A was connected to the cabinet I pulled out (see pics from first posts). The 6" liner then connected to stove inside the cabinet. It did not touch any studs. Pics are not great. It was all to code as far as I could tell. The 6" liner got all smashed up when I tore out the old cabinet.

No that is the 6"

Ya that was aleady there but as I said it seemed to be to code with the Class-A going the cabnet (which was huge compared to the harman cabinet).

If the hole in haman cabinet was centered it would be fine but what I will have to do is take the class-A apart and attach the angle peice that is on the bottom to the angle at the top then strait tube so that it comes down where I need it to (see pic). To do this I have to climb iside the chimney wich will be fun.

I will have a 6" sheetmetal starter collar (that will come out of the top ofthe cabnet and conncts to the 6" liner. Hope that will be good enough for inspector.

*note, the auger would not turn fist time because the fan was touching the tape so I had to pull stove back out and smush tape in and then fan turned and auger turned fine.

One HELLUVA good job!!!! I can't imagine how much a competent installer would have charged and it still wouldn't have been as good.

Way to go!

Thanks.
Wanted to post a pic of the cold air intake as I had to use a 4" all metal dryer vent (linked above) with a bolt holding the flap open.
Not ideal but its all I could find.
