Sad thing is my dog in avatar picture is no longer with me. Cancer robbed him of me at 5 years old. He was my toe warmer. It's only been a few days and I miss him so much it hurts.

So sorry for your loss, brother. All lives matter, and especially so for our beloved pets, who humans can learn so much from about unconditional love and consummate companionship. Beyond warming your toes, he obviously warmed your heart as well.

From the poignant poem "Rainbow Bridge" hopefully comes some semblance of solace on your loss, " gone from your life but never absent from your heart". Godspeed to you on these difficult days.

After record high temps In May, today is predicted to be a record low maximum temp in Maine. After 3 days of a cold wind swept rain, I finally said 'uncle' and fired up the Quad to take off the chill. Our cats are napping in front of it, so I wasn't the only one who was cold !

Tired of hearing the oil furnace cycle, stove's fired back up, nice and toasty.

You have my sympathy for your recent loss. Pets' dedication to its owner and the years of personal bonding... just leaves me speechless! I certainly, as do others can relate to your heartfelt loss.

Next year I will wait till end of May to close up the stove..
closed it up and did the full cleaning Beginning of May this year and wish I hadn;t.
But, saved a slew on Oil so burning a few gallons this chilly/wet week no biggie.

I still have, hmm, 10-15LB in the hopper from when I shut it off a month(?) ago and figured I'd had to scoop them out or something for the summer. Cool enough now that I might get an opportunity to burn them instead.

Nope, it's not going to get cold enough. I guess the stove vac will suck out the pellets.

Nope, it's 60 degrees in the house but the final year end cleaning is done. The stove is Damp ridded up and closed up for next fall.

We've been putting the sweaters on and waiting out the chill. The forecast calls for warmer weather today so it looks like we'll make it.

Planning on making a pan of rhubarb crisp and letting the oven heat the house up tonight. Maybe a marinated turkey breast too. 63 outside and wet fog today.

My oil heat has come on the last three mornings for one cycle, then off all day. It's on right this minute, it's 44 out this morning. Do I care ? No. With a .65 nozzle, the burner has used maybe 1.25 gals of fuel, so just under or right around $4 worth. But more likely 1 gal @ $3.29 per gal. What's most amazing to me is the heat has come on in June.

It seems that ever since I got my stove 4 years ago the cooler springs and falls become more numerous, or maybe it has always been like that and now I just take advantage of it and lite off every chance I get, no harm no foul, it doesn't cost me a cent.

We Lost our 9 yr old Golden to cancer in February...
it's hard but it will ease in time although your boy will never be forgotten nor should he...
As i get older, I find I like dogs better than most people these days...

I've burned about 1/2 bag since the stove had it's end of season cleaning. I gave it a quick cleaning before putting it back to bed. Vent is capped, stove is unplugged and a a bucket of damp rid has been placed inside.

Probably should clean out stoves - but last time I thought that I ended up running them for a couple days as Mother Nature laughed at me.
