I finally got the basement Lopi installed on the first floor after replacing the basement unit with an Answer insert.

Still need to build a bezel, but it’s installed with a brand new Rockflex 6” chimney 15 feet long.

I got it insulated and built a block of plate. Test fire went well, secondaries burning better than it did with 25 feet of chimney. Very excited for winter.

The beast awakens. I kind of like it without any shroud. Just paint the liner black.

PS: Looks like the hearth may need a thin ember-protection extension.

Yeah, we will be buying a hearth rug for this season, and in spring I’ll be tiling an extra 12 inches along the front of the hearth. This only comes out to about 9 inches of hearth extending in front of the door

Not bad for about 3 months of burning? It’s all ashy soot that brushes right off the single wall insulated chimney. We had a nice day so decided to go check how we’ve been burning. Probably about 40-50 fires since install, always seasoned and always burned nice and hot!!

The lighting in that first pic had me hesitant, but the second one looks good (color).
I think it's okay for three months. Better start than many!

Personally I would sweep every three months with this (rather than longer intervals). Twice as much would make me feel a bit iffy.

Thanks stoveliker! Yeah planning on sweeping it this week. First picture looks darker than it is. It’s fluffy and knocks right off the liner when you touch it. This being my first winter using the stoves to actually heat I needed to get an idea of how much it deposits. I’m kinda paranoid about fire (family of firefighters with horror stories) trying to do everything I can to sleep well at night.

That's a solid approach to be safe (minus paranoia).
