Eyeing the dwindling seasoned wood nervously... . I would prefer not to poach '14/'15s wood, but will if this seemingly interminable cold continues. I'm hoping for sunny days and seasonably warm temperatures (which may be in vain, I know).

Major splitting and stacking in our future, too! I may even follow Dixie's lead and buy some wood this year (it can't hurt and it's already split!)

If the woods dry burn it! You have months to replace it, if you need something that seasons quick get ash/maple. I cant see burning oil or electric when you have wood that's ready to burn. That's the danger of giving wood a designation for a certain year, I have seasoned and unseasoned, I burn the seasoned wood until it's warm, then I work on restocking supplies.

Been burning 2014 split for about a month now.... sucks, but you do what you have to do.

It sounds like your 2014 wood has been burning in 2014.

I'm pretty sure the 30 would blow us away. House is only around 1100 but almost no insulation. I think that 13 rated at up to 1800 would suit me but I'm open to suggestions. I really like the englander guys though

Been happy that I put up more wood than usual for this winter. We have burnt about 12 face cords and I still have 2 more should I need them. I have 15 for next winter, some of which I could use if I really had to.

I'm having 3 "difficult" maples taken down around the house/power lines this spring, and I have about 15 tops in the woods that need to be cleaned up, so it looks like I'll be taking my "firewood vacation" again this year. That should get me back up into the 30 fc range again.

We're bouncing back and forth between the heat pump and stove lately. I'll probably start a fire tomorrow morning, but tonight I'm being lazy.

The stove has been cold for 2 days now, just got rained out from splitting, came in the house and my wife said you need to light the stove, getting chilly in here. I said, just turn the heat pump on, this is the reply I got. The heat pump is for air conditioning- the wood stove is for heating. We're not paying the electric co. any more than we have to. I love that woman!

We rarely use the heat pump for anything but heating. It gets set to AC maybe once or twice a year, sometimes not at all. Puget Sound is our AC.

Still burning. Just brought a few more weeks worth of wood onto the porch, but due to the warmest day yet (48 degrees) I was working in shorts.

Snow, sleet and freezing rain on its way in for the next 36 hours.
