How much wood did you burn this past week?

Burning 24/7, used the furnace for 1/2 hour on 2 occasions and keeping the house (2900 sq ft) @74 degrees. I have gone through 3 cords. Been burning for thirteen weeksthat would be a little under a face cord a week.

P.S.: got our gas bill 12/4 - 1/10 = $31.00 we have a gas water heater.

You're telling me. 2500sf of marginally insulated old cape cod here, with an addition and what not, and I'm looking at 1 cord every two weeks with the 30, give or take. Granted, that's highs of 18 and lows of 3, but that's still alot of wood, and even worse, alot of coals going out the door. You fellas can talk about putting a split on top of the coals you raked forward and letting it burn all you want, but when you're heating a big old house in the dead of a Michigan winter it just isn't going to happen. Get rid of the coals, load her up, and go cut some more for next year. It works!.

I always went through about 1/3 cord per week with my old stove in the coldest weather, and this one seems to be no better. Good news is that I get more heat and longer burns.

Beaulah's a hungry gal, but I make no attempt to restrain her appetite for dry hardwood. She keeps us toasty, so no complaint from me about wood consumption. Backup electric baseboard heat with over 4000 KWH/month usage to heat this place to 68ºF during the day and frosty breath (high 50s) in the morning... now that I would complain about.

I know its not the conventional way to report but would have to say about 20 splits a day at 24/7.

Around here, that would be over $600/month. Yep, I'm sticking with the firewood at 1/10th that cost/month, thank you very much!

With the temps we have had in Mich I guess Im I figure a 1/3 cord in about 12 days in the house and the same amount in 15 days in the shop.
