How many are you burning

Looks like this cold wave is coming Eastward so most of the forum members will be feeling it in a few days. Take advantage of any good weather you have left and get ready. I made sure we would not have much snow by putting my chains on the tractor and atv, lol. Cold will stay with us for a while now, so many pellets will be burned.

None yet. I moved into a small well insulated house, haven't got the P 43 installed yet. Going to build a raised hearth to put it on soon as I can!

Over the past couple of weeks, I've been averaging about 5/8 bag per day.

1 Bag approx every 16 hr of Steady running which I think is pretty good with a 61K - BTU Beast
and poorly insulated 90 yr old house.

As of Veterans day (today) I am closing in on 1 ton. Burned about 47 bags so far. We started burning in early September and kept it down to less than a bag a day til we got home from our honeymoon (neighbor got the mail and tossed a bag a day in for us while we were gone) then we started using about a bag and a half to a bag and three quarters daily.

Honestly I am very surprised I am using that little. Based on some assumptions of my heating load, i expected my P43 to be running full tilt(2.5 bags a day) at 0 degrees F. But it only needed a bag and 3/4 daily for a stretch of 3 or 4 days below 0. I am now thinking that my oil boiler will get even less use than I expected, thus saving more than I anticipated! I have 500 Gallons siting in the tank as insurance for when the bottom drops out and the dog stops wanting to go outside and the stove can't keep up. I'm just happy to find out that the temp when that happens will be closer to - 20.

In any case, I have another 7 tons that I am hoping will get us through the winter.

Just one bag so far this season. I found out after going through all the motions that electricity used sparingly is far superior during the shoulder months. Close off the unused rooms and just use a couple circulating space heaters. That's all the heat we need till it goes below freezing. It might not work so well with Mc Mansions but for 1400 sf ranch types which are basically unsuited to pellet stove heating it works out both cheaper and easier during the shoulder months.

0 bags so far. NG is so cheap around here but with the cold on the way I am certain we will be burning soon.

1/2 to 1 bag a day (depends on if the sun is out and if it is windy). Propane is still way too expensive and inefficient, so try to only use that for hot water and cooking (cooking is rare - I usually use a crock pot so I don't have to cook for myself every day).

Up to about 1-1/2 bags in 24 hour period, still not bad for negative 12 last night, it is cold cold cold. Shut it down for the first time in 3 days, figured I would clean it a bit and get ready for round 2!! My crock is on also today, did a pot of chili yesterday, that kind of weather for sure.

Almost through my first ton. I'm heating 2600 sq ft with a p 61a. Also installed a hybrid hot water heater. I haven't used a drop of oil. Only use oil now for a backup or when it gets real cold. Saving about 2500 bucks a year, maybe more.

Wow that's a lot. What brand and model stove you have ?

Tarm HS4.0 boiler. 5 heating zones including dump zone (which is also thermostatted for garage heat on demand). This thing puts out incredible heat....but chews through pellets incredibly fast.

28 bags in 2 stoves through 11/14, heating 3000 SF all day, every day. One stove off at night, other has 5 degree setback for 7 hours.

This my first season running it. I used to get 22 tons from a manufacturer that recently went out of business...but I didn't have this system set up at the time - I had a St. Croix and only went through about 1-2 tons as supplemental heat. I would sell off the rest....Now trying a new very small local guy since the others closed up shop.
