Just scrolled through the thread. Big stove not a problem in 2,200 sq. feet. If you want to burn open go to a fireplace store. They will have a variety of screen sizes. Get the right one and open the stove door all the way and sit the screen on the ash lip of the stove. I did it a total of 3 times in 12 years and got right over it in year one. As to cooking, got over that too when something boiled over and we spent the whole night smelling burned stew. And the next day getting it off the stove top.
