I carry six large loads of wood up from the basement entrance and thru the house every day, all winter long, feeding these two big stoves. While it's fun to light them up the first time each fall, I found I was getting real tired of it by the end of February, last year.
THat can get old fast. Im looking for a house and one of the prime considerations is easy access from the garage or outside(wood pile) to the stove without going through another room. Definitely not up any steps. And a 1 stove maximum.

yeah, I'm watching your thread with interest, but it's purely as a spectator. My problem is more horizontal than vertical. Only up one flight of stairs (9 feet vertical), but my house is very long. One stove is almost directly above where I stack the wood, but the other is at the far end of the house. I need a conveyor, like they have in the airport terminals. ;lol
