A short but very informative pamphlet on cutting your own from the State of NJ: (broken link removed to http://www.state.nj.us/dep/parksandforests/forest/firewood.pdf) OK, I noticed the firewood they have pictured isn't split %-P, but still good info.
 
the btu chart is way off
 
So is the "how much wood do you need" section.

Decent info overall I guess.

That info looks to good to me, a lot of varibles but I think it is a good estimate.

holy crap, is it ever. You'd think that with those super duper low numbers that they'd have a "how much wood do you need" chart that estimated wayyy higher.
 
yeah, and the pic is of a fireplace.....Not one of the "10 Steps" they state about being the most evergy efficient! Plus, this is New Jersey...............haha
 
careful now..... there's alot of New Jersey folks on this board!

I'm from VA so I can appreciate making NJ the butt of a joke.
