If your follow through would take the axe into your foot or leg if you miss, your form is a bit off - also means your are wasting splitting force because it isn't all going where it should. Which is straight down into the wood.

Should be bending at the knees the same time the head is coming down, so the head comes down as vertical as possible. Shouldn't be swinging in a circle.

Sounds like you need the larger sized. Either the 16 or 24 lb model might do it. I would recommend you stay away from the 32lb model unless you are particularly Manly :)

Have you tried one of the larger models yet? Better performance?

No one single maul is going to split everything...thats why I have several designs for the type of wood at hand...and if I still cant get it split then the 660 is broke out and I noodle through the twisted knot or whatever...then it will split! The older I get the more often I grab that 660...;) The days of beating my brains out and destroying my back are over...

I know one that has split everything I’ve put to it, it’s the one on the end of the 4” ram of my hydraulic splitter. [emoji12]

And here is the best lift I have seen, to date, to handle those MONSTA'S. It appears to be a prototype and I think he needs a little work in the wedge department.

Cool lift set up. Needs a catch table for splitter rounds that big. Maybe that’s why the video ends when it does. I’m sure both halve want to hit the ground after the split.

I had one.. then I came out today in my side yard to split some... and it was gone! I guess someone needed to split some wood pretty bad so they borrowed mine forever. Ugh. I hate thieves. My 10lb maul is all I have now.. it works great, just heavy.
