Did removing the pipe outside help any?

Stoves with high EVLs tend to have burn issues on low settings. Run it on the medium/hi settings and keep it clean. Another thing you could do to save a buck is use an adapter tee. And just install 4 inch outside for now. Should help the low burn some.

Just giving an update. I am not so sure removing the last bit of piping helped significantly. Burn pot still seems to fill with pellets after an entire day of running. Have tried a few different brands of pellets. Instant Heat might have neen the best so far. Might have to get 4"too pipe.

The burn pot seems to get caked with ash. Does anyone know if this is normal?

I would say that this is 'not' normal, it does happen from time to time, but is usually attributed to something minor and easily fixable. I am guess that if you have the correct exhaust size, damper/mag setting and a clean stove, the your burn-pot should stay clean and not be an issue - this is the norm.

You should check out this thread: https://www.hearth.com/talk/threads/87335/ There was an issue with the early Enviro Maxx (2006/2007) models which contributed to this situation, you may be in the same boat as they say - as may be the case with the original poster of that thread, this is just a guess.

Has anyone tried the Whitfield II burn pot in there MAXX? Where can the dealer kit be found? Does anyone know if jumping to the 4" exhaust pipe would make that big of a difference?

I was one of the earlier purchasers of an Enviro Maxx, when I first got it there was a 6 page thread on issues I was having with the pot filling up, overflowing pellets and a fire breaking out in the ash pot. Enviro worked about 3 months on the issue until they fixed it with a stronger fan and it has been working great ever sense. I will be starting a new post of a new issue I have and will not high jack your thread but I too bough the exact same pellets as you at Walmart, (they were cheap and looked ok ran a few bags and all seemed fine) but the moment I stated to use them full time and not the Shaw pellets I had always burned I am getting the exact same issue you are with the pellets. I am not saying these are bad pellets and may work great in other stoves as I have another Enviro Stove upstairs in my home that does not seem to have any issues with them. My stove burns fine if when I put in a bag of the Shaw pellets.

You might want to take a 1/4 drill bit and open up all the holes in your burn pot. I did it with ours and it works allot better and then a once a year i just run the drill bit thru to knock the carbon off.

My stove seems to be burning good as of right now. I am using Inferno pellets. Creates a lot of ash but no pellets are over flowing the burn pot. I have done some modifications to the burn pot like SKINANBONES suggested. I also shaved down the igniter so the burn pot sits how it is supposed to. The vents in the front of the burn pot used to be above the burn pot liner but now they are below like they should be. If i keep this setup i will eventually get the 4 inch pipe so there is better exhaust capabilities.
