Todays job: get this stacked up. Clear & 5 degrees.
[Hearth.com] Enough for a 5th row & then some pics

Right side of the row feel down once, re-stacked & tied the end into the row with a long stick.
Some nasty twisted birch that the maul bounced back at me with, but got all but 1 split. (now a stool by the fire pit)
Started/finished 5th row, now 5 rows of 18" splits, 12 feet long 5-1/2 feet high is how much?
Add an 1/8 of a row (starting row 6) pic with the saw started row 6
Done at sunset.

"Started/finished 5th row, now 5 rows of 18” splits, 12 feet long 5-1/2 feet high is how much? "

(1.5 x 12 x 5.5) x 5 rows / 128 = 3.86 cords

Great job!

Shari

Thats awesome! Trade you a cord of Cherry for a cord of WB and the new WB bar stool :)

Thanks Shari
More than I thought.

Nice work,.......again!
Wait just a minute. You split almost 5 full cord in a DAY?
Jeez, bogy, give it a rest. Nah, n/m, keep goin'. Feels good, doesn't it. As is said around here, "money in the bank"(stacks).

(1.5 x 12 x 5.5) x 5 rows / 128 = 4.640625 cords

Great job!

Shari

Way more than I'd ever be able to split by hand - nice work!

uhm, not to be picky, but doesn't that work out to 3.86 cords?

1.5 X 12 X 5.5 X 5 rows = 495 cu ft / 128 = 3.86 - Am I missing something in the math???

KB - Yup, you are correct. I will edit my post.

Good looking pics Dave. How are those cross stacks working out for you on the ends? I have been meaning to try that.

Yeh, I know,
I gotta work on presentation.
Being a rookie has it's limitations but shows there is room for improvement. :)

Thanks everybody,
P-Dave: Just one row + a little done in these pics, almost a cord I think.
Had to get done last night, football today :)

Wow that is some amazing looking salmon, looks much better than the color added crap at my local food store :-P

I think they work well. I had one fall over so far but the wood was frozen & slick.
Now, 1/3 & 2/3 the way up, I add a long small sticks to tie the end cross stack into the stack. Seems to help stabilize it.
