Here’s mine. Seems to be the way these things are built and not in need of fixing. Too much more weld along the stove shell could just cause the door opening to warp and create a leak.

Yep looks just like mine but I've seen no warping or moving. Yet!

Looks like slab wood.

And often you would find my stove full of 2x4 cut offs.

guess i'd be nervous my stove would get too hot and warp something with a full load of boards in it. I'll burn lumber in mine but only a couple pieces at a time.

It's all about air space. Pack them tight and they only burn the available surface area. I've done a flat layer the whole way to see how and where the air comes in to learn how to stack my actual splits better. It's a front right to back left airflow.
