Seems like with the newer stoves you have to be committed to maintaining a dry wood stash.
I recently went for 10 years on wood heat alone in a Fisher.
But in the last 3 years I put in a LP gas boiler.
So since I've slacked off on firewood as a religion.
Then with the fuel price spike I began to scrounge a bit more, burning alot of standing dead wood.
The Fisher will burn anything, but even wet wood is almost more work than it's worth.
It doesn't start putting the heat out till after the moisture is driven off and by then its
just about time to reload.
So when I ordered the Jotul I knew I would have to re-committ myself to dry wood.
And with the price of things, putting up firewood pays alot better than it used to.
