Throw some sliced onions and peppers around some precooked brats or sausages sealed in a foil. Don't need all that much cook time.
Basically steaming the veggies and infusing the brat with the flavors. A little olive oil to help keep from sticking.
All this talk about food is making me hungry! Reminds me of what we called "second class cooking" in Boy Scouts. That is, anything cooked directly in the coals of a fire. Hamburgers with sliced potato, wrapped in foil, eggs cooked in orange peel or half a hollowed out onion. Maybe someone should start a new thread?

All I know is one of these days I'll add some meat into the works. But it won't be today, it's over 50 deg out today and the stove is off.

It's -10 and the stoves just got fed. Lost the tv reception for the channel that was covering the Vikings game. Its -4 in the cities. Brrr.
No fear of stoves being used on low to cause a creosote problem in this state!

These coastal storms suck the warm air up from down south. But we're supposed to get winds gusting up to 60mph later I guess. Up to 2" of rain, glad it's not snow ! Be over by 10 tonight they are saying. Tomorrow night is supposed to be cold.

I agree above and the warmer weather, low burns, and cheap pellets are all three contributing here. I burn low and slow a lot but I will also ramp it up in the mornings awhile to burn stuff off and clear some ash etc. Low burns are going to create more ash and dirtier glass no matter what pellets are used though.

yep..... no big problem there.... looks/sounds to be combo of dirty pellets, low burns etc....
would get the same affects from pellets that I don't use anymore......
1st real cold ass day it get's run screamin hot will clean that stuff up....

Thanks for all the replies guys! It's 52* and raining right now, this time last year I think it was maybe 12* and snow. Weird weather and the stove is off!

They are, as alternativeheat mentioned, calling for gust of wind up to 55mph and mass power outages. Our main at is lined with power trucks just waiting for it to hit the fan!

I had to go out and secure the wifes kayak and wheel barrow, they took a flip. Yah it's her wheel barrow, I use the tractor and trailer myself but she likes her wheel barrow. My Daughter in Law returned the kayak and didn't cinch it down. Anyway, our Special Weather statement says we are in it right now as I type. Yep, it's blowin pretty good out there alright. But we don't have the thick treeage you guys have up in Vermont.

The wind is howling through the trees here and can hear a rumbling sound now and then. I know that sound, it's when it howls down the street in front of our house where it's open traveling, can shake the house sometimes. In a hurricane it sounds like a train coming through. Guess it's like the prop wash of a big prop driven plane and the air makes a whacking sound behind the plane only bigger scale. If it doesn't go over 60mph here and with no snow we shouldn't lose power. The worst wind is supposed to be right now and diminishing to just windy between now and 5.

So, still 50* and raining hard. Starting to have thunder and lightning too. Strange weather indeed!
