Some of you commented about my chimney liner being rectangular… Is that a good thing? Rare?
It's not rare by any means, it's just not the best for a wood stove. Smoke forms in a column as it rises, therefore a rectangle isn't as efficient as a round liner. The old stove was likely an 8" stove and an 8" round liner might not have fit, or the installer was old school. It was a lot more common years ago, round liners are the most common these days. Either way, it's not likely to give you any trouble.

I guess the installer must have been old school then because my old All Nighter had a 6" connecter.

So, I'm hearing that I should not stress about the rectangular liner at all then? If/when this liner wears out (have no idea how long that takes) should I have a circular one installed?

No sweat. It will do the job. As long as the stove performs well I wouldn't worry about it.

You aren't gonna wear out a heavy wall liner!
