Burning Hedge

  • Active since 1995, Hearth.com is THE place on the internet for free information and advice about wood stoves, pellet stoves and other energy saving equipment.

We strive to provide opinions, articles, discussions and history related to Hearth Products and in a more general sense, energy issues.

We promote the EFFICIENT, RESPONSIBLE, CLEAN and SAFE use of all fuels, whether renewable or fossil.
I am in Southeastern Ohio in the Cambridge area. There really is hedge all over the place here. It is not hard to come by if you are looking for it.

I have researched the bow making qualities and actually have plans of making a bow or two once my garage/ shop is built.

Check these guys out when you are ready. Best way to go is to build a "board bow" or 2 from a 1x2x6'red oak board to get the learning curve going, and avoid ruining a good stave. These guys will get ya there. I have some old posts there as "Postman". "Hunting the Osage Bow" is a good book to use also. Good luck, HMU if ya want any help.

Bigger firebox??? _g Wow, we must have two different stoves. My firebox seems HUGE at 30"x15"x15". That's right at 4 Cu Ft.

I put firebrick on the two sides to make the box smaller. I literally cannot imagine filling that firebox with fuel!

ODs are 19" deep, 32" high, and 24" across. Weight? Seems heavy... ;lol

That's the same one. I would only like a larger box so I could load it up a little more for when I am not home. It makes plenty of heat and I can get pretty good over night burns, but one or two more logs would stretch things out a little more.
