I've used half my bricks. That's mixing them with cord wood.
I've been getting better at using them but they still have some of the same problems. Strangely they simply don't like to "take off". The solution is to have a good bed of coals for them to sit on. That means starting the fire with wood, I usually use 3-6 small splits then stack the Bio-Bricks on them.
The slow start also effects how quickly I can get the boiler up to temp. It just takes longer to get 180 degree water with them. Once they're going though they produce good heat and last quite some time.
