Had the Blaze King King since 2018.
Kansas.
Burn 2-3 year old split wood. Have a Moisture meter.
Stove in basement of 2-story walkout.
Every once in a blue moon the "flapper" seems to get "stuck" and there is no air being drawn in. The fire just snuffs out. I can no longer hear the flapper flapping open/closed.

I usually knock on the knob and spin it real fast a couple times and it Rights itself. Tonight it took about 30 minutes to get it "back" to normal.

Anything I can do preventatively? Anything other people do? Not a big deal if I'm home. Bigger deal if I'm not...

Thanks so much,

I would take the cover off and have a look.

Is the flapper stuck or is it completely loose and falls closed, and only after moving it around it might stick on a burr or so and open up again?

Loosen the two square drive screws on the main tube lid. Inspect the blade operation. When you reinstall the lid, do not over tighten the two screws. Just hand tight works.

I'm not too smart. But it looks"ok". no obvious issues I see. Lubricate it?

Thank you ALL for the responses. Great forum. Blaze King for life!!!

Run it with cover off and see how it responds.

Lube it. Hit the pivot points of the throttle blade. I use silicone lubricant because it dries off to something other than a sticky, oily, dirt attracting grease. Mine actually has stuck slightly open so the stove gets hotter than desired.

Once a year lube is plenty. While you've got the cover off, a little bit of lube on the tension washer will make the knob turn silently and smoothly.

Maybe I should do that, too.
I haven't had any issues with the flapper, but the knob is a bit squeaky, I have to admit.
Sadly, I still don't have one of those stupid square drivers...

Warming up nicely so far. That is full open. Never had the cover off before to know if that's how far it's "calibrated" to be open, or if they ever need to be recalibrated?

Thanks again,

Full open stove at room temp and full open with high fire very different. That looks ok based on hot/warm stove, set to high.
