Yeah. How does their showroom display look? I'm betting it's one of the few that open nicely.

I'd still be a giant pain in the ass of that local shop. I'd want it fixed if it was my stove.
 
Sorry they are giving you the runaround. It's the exact opposite of the experience I had with The Chimneysweep in Bellingham, WA.
