Sconnie Burner
Feeling the Heat
I'm running a quad 3100 and find with a top down cold start, I need to close everything down by 300-350, at least this time of year with the boxelder I'm burning. And it still climbs to a little over 700. I do have a blower on it so I can just flip that on to cool it back down. I did a reload with all oak/ash mix before bed the other night when it was suppose to get down to 17 and didn't see any temps over 600. It made it there and cruised for quite awhile.
I am renting the house and didn't want to modify the stove as I don't technically own it. I was getting nervous seeing it climb to 750 on less than prime btu wood but I think it was off gassing really soon and I wasn't closing down soon enough. I was affraid every time I use it I was going to have a runaway fire. Now I pretty much close everything down a tad before 300, before the secondaries even kick in but it climbs and they start up shortly there after. I'll see what the 24/7 burning brings. I'm sure it will be easier to control reloads than start up loads.
