Advice on insert installation

You cant do that wit an insert to do that you need a zc unit as stated previously by others.
 
So what are my options on an insert I can slide in right against 2x4's and drywall?

There is none. Terminology is biting you again. An insert goes into an existing wood burning fireplace.

You are looking for a ZC fireplace. They are complete systems installed usually with their own flue.

I'd recommend speaking to a local installer to get a better idea of what you are dealing with.
