Can I ask why people are talking degrees in the thousands when VC suggests that their cat lights off around I believe 300?
I don't have the manual in front of me, but that may be a reference to what the temperature of the stove should be before closing the damper and engaging the CAT.Can I ask why people are talking degrees in the thousands when VC suggests that their cat lights off around I believe 300?
I think that seems good, I am trying to follow back on this thread is this a new VC Encore? You'll know if the CAT lights off when it starts getting up into the 1000-1200 range. FYI mine had an alarm on the AT100 that I had to change, I think I reset it to 1500 degrees.
reread your manual... thats way offCan I ask why people are talking degrees in the thousands when VC suggests that their cat lights off around I believe 300?
Yeah, better said than me. The initial light off I am not so sure or concerned about, but if I am getting a nice hot fire going what I meant was I want to see it get up to the 1000-1200 range and stay up there for some time - then I know the CAT is definitely lit and functioning properly.Actually this is incorrect.. the cat starts to light off at 600 degrees... the cat is burning well at 1000 when you get to that temperature.. you really shouldn't see anything out of the stack... at 1500.. im starting to think im having an issue.. At 1600 You start saying WTF...
yup you are right, not sure where or how I thought that..reread your manual... thats way off
Takes all the guess work out of this. Must have for this stoveWow this auberins thermocouple is like having a steering wheel for the stove.
There is a manual online but it seemed it was opposite of what it was. Mine is set up like this. Just stripped the thermocouple and put the wires in. Then set the alarms. Used a 1/8 drill hit and turned it with my hand through the gasket material. Probe in and then tied it off in the back to keep it in place. Here are two pics of what mine looks like.Just got my auber 100 in today. How do I set this thing up? I didn’t get any paperwork with mine. I know I have to cut the ends off the thermocouple. Should I just strip a little wire and stick it in to the green thing that goes in to the auber? There are 3 spots that I can put the cables. Where should I put the wires? Anyone have a link to an online manual?
Thanks! That first pic is what I needed. There is a manual online but it seemed it was opposite of what it was. Mine is set up like this. Just stripped the thermocouple and put the wires in. That is actually the reverse of the manual. The manual instructions red negative is the left. But when I had it set up it was backwards. So if your Temps drop from ambient after you light it then you'll have to switch the wiresThanks! That first pic is what I needed.
Hmmm brand new getting EEEE on the display. Possibly a bad thermocouple? There is a manual online but it seemed it was opposite of what it was. Mine is set up like this. I had that at first. Was just a bad connection on the wires. Seemed to be very sensitive. I had to play with the connection to get it to work. Then it eventually showed me ambient temp. I ended up using the little connectors they sent and made a loop after feeding the wire through then crimped themHmmm brand new getting EEEE on the display. Possibly a bad thermocouple?

Also make sure the Auber is set to the correct setting. Mine was not set to K type by default
This was it. It was set to p10 or something. Thanks! Also now that I’ve taken my connectors off I’ll add the loops just for more security. Also make sure the Auber is set to the correct setting. Mine was not set to K type by default
Got it all set up in the stove. I was just able to bend the original holder and kind of wedge it in. Looking at the old thermometer I have some pretty bad burning habits. This was it. I debated whether or not I actually needed it and am so glad I installed this. I think I had the other problem and was running the stove way too hot all the time. Wanted to make sure I had it up to temp and then my house would end up being 90 degrees and all the windows open. With this it is like driving a go kartGot it all set up in the stove. I know that my wife has never looked at the old cat probe. I also know that some times I just give up and let it go. Also I’m agarose of it running away from me so I don’t burn it hot enough. I hope that having this out as a reminder will help both of us out.I debated whether or not I actually needed it and am so glad I installed this. Also wanted to mention that my positive and negative were reversed on the thermocouple as well. Once I had it working I just grabbed the thermocouple and it went up, I let go and it went down.
