The regencies honestly are pretty comparable in performance and durability to the woodstock hybrids so far. Only time will tell how they stand up long term. The thing bk has that puts them above the rest is the thermostatic control. We really dont see kumas here so i cant comment on them. But i havnt been impressed with the bucks. And we all know how i feel about vc.

You know the funny thing Bholler is that the very first wood stove i bought back in 74 was and old Ashley that resembled an old oil heater, it had the same fancy thermostat our BK's come with, so BK's thermostat isnt very inovative

No not innovative vc and many others have used them. But bk made it work better than anyone else.

A few others have tried it in the past, long before the epa got involved. It’s extremely difficult to get one through the EPA tests from what I understand. There’s a lot of engineering involved.

Crazy its only 70 here in NJ, I'm taking advantage if the cool weekend, I've got to clear out a new log landing, split and stack the oak tree that was cut down earlier this week, and possibly cut down a leaning large cherry tree if I have the time.

Me too I have the cordwood saw on the tractor parked out in the woods now. I have a little over a cord of small limb wood cut to 8' lengths I need to saw up so I will tackle that tomorrow unless it gets too hot. The caption was for my dog that was intently eyeing a squirrel but you cannot see him in the photo I guess. I have been thinning out a Sugarbush out back here and all the small trees went into this pile.

Don't sink, kenny! Around here, we're sticking to the high ground. I don't know how much rain we had the last ten days, but I'll be amazed if it wasn't a record. It has been so long since I've been able to mow my lawn, that I honestly forget the last time I did it, and I normally mow every 4 - 7 days.

Hi to everyone. Here is 92 and I am outside splitting all this huge amount of wood I have here. Waiting for my boy this weekend to run both splitters. Is not as nice as many of you with hardwood but it keeps me warm and with the Bks it shines. Are cottonwood, elm, Russian olive.

I feel that the 25 ton is a little faster but the bog down into the big rounds on a fresh cut is where the 40 ton win cause it just goes through without the engine bogging down. The cottonwood is real moist. No prob going thru with the big boy.

Not factually correct. The older stoves had "off the shelf" bimetallic springs.

We make our own. Ours are actually made from raw material to a model specific length. Then, model specific again, a number or portion of revolutions are bent into the spring.

Then, we bake, by model, the springs at specific temps for specific duration of times.

You could not pass the Method 28R test process with an off the shelf spring....so never (everyone) try a different spring other than what came with your model..it won't work. Thank you.

They do make some great looking stoves to. Though. I couldnt bring myself to buy a king or princess

I have a princess its like having a fat girl friend, she keeps you warm, has a big belly, and you don't have to show her off or take her out everywhere.

They were always both, IMO. Only beautiful to those who were operating them, no one else.

The Ashford changed all of that, for me.

It’s funny how beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I have a princess parlor and love the look of it. I have simple taste though. I don’t like fancy things. I’m a pickup truck guy not a corvette guy. I purchase things that could be the most useful to me, not necessarily how pretty they are. I guess they become pretty over time to me because they make my life easier. When I was in the market for a new stove, good looks was at the bottom of the list of features I was looking for. I will trade 30hr burn times in the shoulder seasons any and everyday over a stove that’s “pretty” to the majority.

But you can have a stove that does that and doesnt have the most backward proportions i have seen on any stove on the market. Yes they are great stoves but visually the proportions are all wrong. They dont follow any of the design standards we have been using since the greeks. If you like the look thats fine it doesnt bother me in the least. But there is a reason most people dont find them attractive. And btw there is nothing wrong with simple at all. But simple can still be proportionately correct.

And let’s not forget the wife factor... I had no problems to persuade my better half that a BK was exactly what we needed by explaining all the benefits, but when she looked at the available models, she pointed the Ashford and said “we’re going to buy this, AREN’T WE HONEY?” No chance to say anything but “ of course we are darling, what else?”

I just took a peak at the stove and yup I like the look of the backward proportions as far as the 30 hr burn times, it’s not necessarily the length of burn, it’s the ultra low burn rate I’m looking for. It’s very convenient in the shoulder seasons. It’s easier to have it burn low for 30hrs and not overheat the house vs starting many small fires over that same time period to avoid overheating the house. I load the stove to the gills, get it cranking, turn it down and forget about it for a few days.
