Propane torch?

That’s what I use. Finger tip ignition, instant on and off, and you can use it to preheat the flue or to chase bugs around too!

Propane cost is like a nickel for the whole year.

Clean heat, fast heat, gets you to cat engagement ASAP.

What can I say? Some people value their time less than me. Kindling is a total waste of time, if you have dry wood. Buy a Super Cedar, and get on with life, already.

At the beginning of the season, I enjoy fiddling with the stove. I like burning stuff that would have gone to waste, and poking the fire frequently, and sitting in front of the stove with the dogs and going 'mmmmmm'.

By the end of the season I have turned into you though- stuff the wood in, seeya tomorrow. :)

I use a torch too- it's usually a MAPP torch, but I screw a green camping gas cylinder on for stove use. One cylinder lasts... well, 2 years and counting.

What if you went full on crazy, engaged the cat with the door open, torched the cat until warm, open bypass, light fire, close door, and immediately close the bypass? I guess it's not much different from Blaze Kings demonstration video.

edit: Don't try it. Might be a warranty issue LOL

I guess the shop is sealed up pretty good. No OAK and the stove started sucking stuff out of the flue. Got back to the shop and CO was at 40 PPM. Whoops.

Time for an OAK. Hopefully you don’t need to get thru 2 feet of mud-stacked stone wall?

I might be entertaining the idea of making a fire this morning, yesterday was 50 and rain, today is drizzle, 47 with a slight north east wind, just damp a raw out

I'm thinkin the same thing..
I still cant bring myself to do it, house is up to 63 and it feels ok lol, just feels weird knowing very well that I will possibly have the ac running on Tuesday, 85 with high humidity

It's only 62F outside, but we have the windows open. It will get warmer today and solar gain is keeping the house warm enough in the meantime.

You know you’d never tolerate 63 in the winter months, no reason to tolerate it now. :)

So true, but these dam BK's work to well, i'm afraid that the little bit of heat I want now will bite me tomorrow when the temps start moving up.

I did it..
It was 70 deg. In the house, 54 dreary deg outside, not gonna get any warmer till this time tomorrow..
Calling for rain all this week, grrrrrr..

Thinking a small hot fire would take the chill off over night tonight and serve to remove that beautiful black finish the last couple smolders left on my princeses window. Then a quick clean out and a brushing of the chimney will have me all set for summer.

It takes a lot of heat to burn out (self clean) a princess or its window. It’s pretty easy to burn kindling hot enough to coat everything with a brown layer.

Did you guys see on the other site where that bk king from 2009 actually had a huge hole corrode through the back!!

Makes me a bit paranoid about running low and slow all the time.

Who cares about burning through the back, the real question, why you cheating on us?

I corresponded with the guy. Suggested he contact the dealer. The new rear panel DOES NOT require the old rear be removed. No plasma needed. The rear panel will be made for him to fit around everything. Only welding needed is perimeter areas. The dealer is waiting to hear from him so we can get this resolved.

The smoke smell issue -I had it- IS RESOLVED %100! Call BK or PM BKVP. A new big fat gasket is the fix. The installation MUST be accomplished as per given instructions. Not hard to do, though. My Ashford 30.1 is perfectly smoke-tight. The gasket installation is not in the usual manner as the larger gasket diameter has to be accommodated by special means.

Satisfaction guaranteed.

Tell us of your outcome.

Enjoy the BTUs.
