Good info all thanks. The cat engagement times are similar to how long it takes to get secondary burn going in the T6. But the extra long burn times are not.
I too have never sweated running the thing too hard. Can't say I've had the "innerds glow" - unless you mean the cat itself. But it's not all that uncommon for my cat thermometer (I replaced the dumbed-down kind with the one with a scale) to read 2000 degrees or occasionally past the end of the scale. This is my 5th winter with my BK Princess, and the cat still seems fine.
When running the princess, I had the cat, cat housing and air intake lip area glowing a few times. Good to hear that your cat has put up with those abusive temps
That seems like it's pushing it a bit. The metal innards can bend or crack when they get that hot - it happened on my old Dutchwest, and though BK is better of course, "you cannah violate the laws of physics". I actually think mine has developed a slightly bent piece kinda behind the cat, between it and the bypass opening.
That"s why I backed off. The general consus here was that it was too hot. The gentleman at BK said thats how they burn theirs and that it's ok. Who knows.... I haven't needed to run the King that hot.
Stove room temp is pretty consistent 80-84, upstairs is fairly large so the middle areas atop the stairs are 72-76, the far ends of the upstairs are a large bonus room above the garage and master bedroom these rooms are 68-72. If I'm not burning we keep the house stat at 72.
