20 plus cords 1600 dollars, 5 years of heat pricless!

Huffdawg: . The hunter density can get to over 30per sq mile and around me I estimate they took over 20 deer in this sq mile and maybe more. We have a long seasons starting in sept thru dec so they get thinned out.

Four months of deer hunting! Sends shivers down my spine! We have just two weeks and it's dangerous to be in the bush during that time. It's good to thin out the deer, but four months of not going into the bush would not be a good thing for me or others that do more in the bush than hunt..

If you put a ruler on it you have the 20 cords then. The pics of the 2 piles look like about 9 to 10 cords, Randy

Not to be a jerk, but I agree with Randy here. 20 cords of wood would be approximately 2 piles 8' high, 8' long stcks and 20 feet long. Those piles look like they could be 20' long, but are certainly not 8' high. Looks like an average height of about maybe 3' high ?

Only speaking for Upstate NY, tri-ax loads are 6 cord at best. No one around here gets full tractor trailer (53') loads of wood.

But I will say it would be nice to burn only 4 cord a year. AND to be able to go out in the yard and cut from nicely stacked piles. Don't let the kids play near them though.

I bought log length in the past, tri-axle loads with a pup trailer, not heaped and after splitting and stacking into wood racks, I could see the loads on average came out to about 8 full cords. Looking at your load of logs, I'd say you got between 12-14 cords.

Maple1--I run in new brunswick a couple times a week. You guys don't run girly trucks. i think a B-train is close to 139,000lb gross?


But FWIW, by weight(5000lb) cord i have bought 60,000lbs of wood on 3 different occasions. they were delivered on a straight job tri-axle(steering axle plus 3 under the bed). Cut/split/stacked ended up 10 1/4 to 10 1/2 cord. I also have seen, on a regular basis, 6 axle tractor trailer(3-axle truck 3 axle trailer) grossing 135/140,000lbs. That will give you about 100,000lbs of payload. Mind you, these aren't legal loads, but they're on the roads.




It's gonna be hard to find bigger loads than up in the U.P. It's axle weight not gross.
