The Chimney Sweep Online Fireplace, Woodstove, Gas Stove and Barbecue Shop
Sometimes, the deciding factor in choosing a fireplace insert can be which model(s) will fit into the fireplace. This column gives you the minimum fireplace dimensions each insert needs, and is sorted by how tall (T) the opening must be, as that is usually the critical measurement. The measurements listed allow a couple of inches above the insert to enable connection to the liner or direct connect plate. |

Note: Fireplace opening requirements don't tell the whole story. Each fireplace insert model has a unique hearth (floor protection) requirement, as well as clearances that must be maintained from combustible
fireplace trim, mantle, etc. Having determined that a given insert will physically fit inside the fireplace opening, click its name in the left column of
the chart above to go to its page, then click the INSTALLATION SPECS button to check required clearances against the configuration of your
fireplace.
