wl- you need to wait for a dryer wood now so that you do not slip or something and it would be nice to do that on in a sunny day but I imagine your the one who wet it so much--lol--having a cleaning "urge". My problem was I got up to the roof and there was a wire cap that I could not remove and the man next store told me that "nothing gets in there with that cap" so my hose idea did not work too well.., some of my bright idea"s here--lol.. I thought those things went sideways so that you could get at it for cleaning but I guess they do not....snowing today and cloudy and dreary and cold too and Happy Easter everyone and you can start boiling the kiddies eggs now, now that's a job and do you have their Easter Baskets ready to go.? clancey

This was what I did today, I missed some spots and there is a section that will get done pretty soon. I just have the areas I missed, the middle part and the steps and then the siding will get washed. Once the front porch is done, I'll do the back porch.

Keep that snow out in your area @clancey , send only rain. Happy Easter.

I started cleaning what I didn't get or missed of the TimberTech this morning, once I was done with the floor I started on the steps, that's when mother nature gave me a good morning shower. That was it for me so I put everything away.

Taking a lemonade break.

Got rid of the snake pile and now moving the end of the ricks I had on the porch back to the stacks. I don't think I'll need them anymore. Spring has sprung here.

Wind is down today so I'm going to perimeter spray the place with Viper. Scorpions and centipedes are making the wife hurt my ears the last week.

I finished cleaning the steps, cement pad and the siding on the front porch today. I still have some areas I'll clean on the TimberTech floor but that will come after I clean the back porch which is screened in. The back porch looks cleaner but I'm sure the weeps holes will need cleaning out on the floor.

We had some nice warm weather this weekend so I just cleaned up the garage. I'm thinking the wood I have left in the garage will be enough till next winter. I'm just getting things ready to start mowing grass and hopefully to start processing firewood. Spent some time Friday and Saturday working the two new labs in the pond working on water retrieves enjoying the 75 degrees and sun. Hope everyone had a great Easter with their family.

Went to cut up some of this stuff as it’s been sitting on what I thought was City property right next to the road in my neighborhood and up for grabs for over a week. Cut a few smaller rounds and an older gentleman came out and politely said that was his wood he was just storing there until he could split it. A lot of wood here. Those big rounds are 42-45”
Across . He was kind enough to let me keep the 3 pieces I cut. I apologized for the misunderstanding and went on my way . He thought it was too big for anyone else to touch he said I was the only guy that tried haha.

Unloaded that and move some ash I had sitting in no man’s land into the pull first pile for next season. That will free up some space. Moved some pine into a different pile with the rest of the pine I had.

Working on filling the big wood shed now.
Got three rows of dry wood.
Now the wood that was delivered this past week. Usually I cut my own wood but have been to busy.
I like to be at least 2 years ahead. This will help me get there.

That big shed is nice. I had a rough first wood gathering outing of the year. First, I was rejected on a big black locust log that the owner had okayed a couple of months ago. Second, I couldn't find the owner on a pile of elm - time to move on. Now what? Well, there is that big dirty pile of poplar and willow. I just really wanted to run the saws again. I started at the bottom of a big downed poplar tree in the pile (should have started at the top). I got my saw stuck. On to saw #2. I managed to get a round cut but it wouldn't fall out of the suspended log. I just left the stuck saw and moved on.

I went to the top end and had problems there too. This end was pretty big also. Another stuck saw. On to saw #3. I forgot I have to think about what I'm doing. This time I could strap and truck the log out of the pile. I freed the saw and finished cutting the top of the log up. I cut part of the middle section too and cut up a couple of smaller logs. I'll get the rest of the lower and mid sections cut and noodled in a few days.

Most of these rounds are huge. There might be 2 cords counting the smaller logs - big wood adds up fast. Loading it will be the hardest part. Wet poplar isn't that light. It was fun running the saws again. They all ran well and had good sharp chains. Before I left, I had to get my stuck saw unstuck. I tried a new technique - that is, cutting a parallel cut along the stuck chain's bar. It worked! It releases the chain grabbing pressure. I headed home. I hate leaving rounds in a public place - but it is just poplar. I definitely wasn't a well-oiled machine on this first outing.

I haven't been doing any firewood related work but after the front porch was done, I decided working on a chair would be my next project.

The old Porter Cable pad disintegrated so I bought a Craftsman Corded Detail Sander, I should've had it when I started.

Been buring the last dead fall pile for the last 5 hours. Just need to shove the burnt nubs back up on the coals for a while and. it'll be done for the summer.

Ripped through the edge of the woods , in front of the house, just to show all the poke and blackberry brambles what their future looks like 😂. Love the Red Max .105 line I got. The stuff is brutal.

I put two coats of stain on it today. The bottom right is what I started with, top right is after the first coat and the picture on the left is after the second coat.

There was one on it before I started working on it.

clancey - noodles are when one cuts the wood with the grain. Normally wood is cross-cut against the grain. When you cut with the grain you get long chips (noodles). When you cross-cut you get small chips. The reason why you would cut with the grain (noodle) is to turn a big heavy round piece of wood into 2 or 4 smaller chunks that can be handled.

I didn't take any pictures but the third coat went on the chair this morning and then I swept the garage floor up. I'll do more cleaning of the garage floor and then wash it.

Nice day outside today. Got to run the chainsaw a bit this morning to clear downed branches and trees from the trail to the water so we can get tools and supplies for boardwalk repairs and putting the piers in down closer. Boardwalks are going to need a complete rebuild in the next year or two. Been busy since the move installing closet hardware, a water softener, trying to organize the garages, installing a mantel TV mount (it has a heat sensor handle so you know if it needs to go back to the "up" position), etc.

In summer mode now. A couple of hours weed eating through some more stuff and an hour killing kudzu that has popped its head up so I can see it.

A shower and drive down the mountain for happy hour and dinner with some friends.

Last night I decided that the chair would get sanded with some 400 grit sandpaper or block, checked my supplies but didn't have any so I picked some up. I put the chair outside for another day so hopefully the sanding and hitting it with some super fine wool will happen tomorrow.

Hopefully by Friday, I'm splitting wood or felling some topped off pine.

Thanks qw I would have never imagined that what it means and this type of world I believe could write a whole dictionary of the different types of words--fascinating...lol I know one thing when I cut meat or something I go with the grain for it makes it easier to cut as well...wl--you need to get some pretty chair cushions as well...
