First halfish cord CSS. I hope to be splitting a bit smaller than I have in the past, I found my bigger pieces a bit awkward to Tetris into the stove this year.

I have a lot of work ahead me. I don't like cutting down trees, but for a solar project and also some peace of mind house safety we took a few trees down. My motto is, if a tree comes down, I plant another one, but I also have a lot of processing work ahead of me this summer. And here I was worried about my getting ahead pile!

With possible snow (2-4) ice (0.24) and close to a inch of rain forecast, I decided we would put in the last of the wood in the stack I've been taking from. Some of the deer were taking a break in a area they usually use when the sun is out, after I put everything away, the sun came out and was hitting that area the deer are in.

I gotta ask, why the trailer behind the SxS? I've been hoping to get into the SXS market so that I don't have to pull a trailer (and fit the puppy inside). It seems that your terrain is a bunch flatter than mine and I'd rather not smoke the quads brakes coming down the mountain with a trailer. Also what model is your trailer? It looks much more manageable than mine, while still holding a fair bit. Mine was a tent trailer in the 70's...

I'll have the back of the RTV loaded up with cutting stuff so I use the trailer. The property around the house is flat but the areas I cut on are all hills. In the winter time I have five bags of sand in the back of the RTV once the snow hits for plowing so I use the trailer.

The trailer is made by a Canadian company, I'm pretty sure it's called a Bush Burro.

Looks good, makes sense!

A good load of beech or sugar maple will push the Rhino 450 down the hill but the RTV, nope. It's a slow climb but the power is there and it's real nice if you need a/c in the summer or heat in the winter.

We still had two gutters that needed cleaning on the newer garage with the metal roof before the heavy rains hit this weekend. I grabbed the 16 foot high fiber glass step ladder for the job, most of the pine needles from the stops are gone with all the pine needles in the gutters.

The wife was a big help holding the ladder, the pine needles were raked up and brought to another area in the woods until I can load them back up when I start doing trail work.

The old legs will be feeling it tomorrow morning.

My truck is still in the shop so no going out and getting wood. Started doing the work I don't like doing.

1. I finally started moving all of the wood debris into the raspberry rows (there is a lot, probably 40 wheelbarrow loads. I got behind).
2. I ripped apart the tarp on my trailer and started making a new one. This is used to batten down the loads.
3. I moved the big splitter over to some willow rounds and started splitting. I don't have a tractor and hate moving the big splitter. This is a big pile. I've had a little willow in the past but nothing like this. There is over a cord of walnut and elm in that pile but all I can see is willow.

I'm using a little scrapped together table (see 3rd pic) to throw partial splits on (a child's desk, plywood top, and covered by metal election signs - it works great).

Loaded the truck & trailer with construction/remodeling debris and ran to the transfer station, then fertilized the lawn with some old bags of fertilizer I found in the garage that I'm not going to haul to the Northwoods and refused to throw out. My back is feeling it...

I haven't done this in a few years but with the forecast we have, I took the forks and the plow out of the woods. They should be safe in the area I put them today.

I finally grabbed two saws, put a chain on both and then filled them up with fuel and bar oil, they started up after three pulls so that was nice.

The holes to the downspouts were frozen over so I taped a metal shelf bracket to the metal extension of the roof rake handle, I poked some holes through the ice so the waters running better but we'll need warmer weather so everything thaws.

Weather has been up and down here still windy and some colder days followed by 60's and 70's. We had a warm but rainy weekend, the garage was still pretty filled so I just ran field worked the dogs and filled the kindling barrel back up. Going from mid 60's this weekend to 30's by Tuesday so I'll be firing the stoves back up. Spring is comming but not completely here yet.
