I recently had an Osburn Matrix 2028 insert installed. After about a week of moderate use, I noticed this discoloration (and even a rust looking mark) on the upper right of last photo. Is this normal? This is my first time looking at this location, so for all I know the spots were always there.

Something is getting hot locally.
I'm not familiar with your insert but it doesn't look very concerning to me.
It seems to be not on a place that affects the aesthetics?

No, it's not on a spot that can't be seen unless you shine a flashlight and look really closely. I am more concerned if something were structurally/functionally wrong.

@EbS-P , not sure how similar your insert is? (Or were both free standing stoves?)
