10 is not black locust. May be honey locust but I don' t think that either.

Hmm ok I thought that was from from a reputable source but I'm just gonna update it to something else I'm 100% sure of, thanks. Figures the one risk I take isn't right lol...we don't have locust here.

Ok updated. Im positive #10 is correct now.

We're you able to get the others?

Very nice pics. Very typical of the species, nice test. Is that Bubba!

Apple got me -- Dog =Mastiff

Did I earn a beer ??

Wait -- was the dogs name a trick question -- if so I think it's name is Ralph or it could be Fred too.

9/10 + the dog breed gets you a beer! Sam Cold Snap right now at my place.

Good guesses on the name but no. It is a people name though. I'll give you a hint:

Gordon?

Lol, yes fellow parent.

All 3 of my kids have been watching Thomas the Tank Engine since my 12 year old was little. The 4 year old still watches Thomas so I'm something of an expert on the subject.

Well then you'll love this...

Gordon is from a long line of show dogs and his official AKC name is Epic's Express Coming Through!

That's awesome!

I'm reminded of the episode where Gordon is boasting to Edward and says:
"Watch me little Edward, as I come rushing through with the express. That will be quite a sight for you."

9 doesn't look like cherry to me, at least not native black cherry.

I always miss box elder. Have only seen it as a tree, never as firewood.

Not trying to pick on anybody but I do find it interesting as to what is considered "giant" . :p

Cherries don't get that big in the north east for some reason.

I think they get blocked out by the oaks and maples mostly and some hickory nowadays. Ash used to be dominant too but we all know what happened there and then Elm to a lesser extent.

This is about as big a cherry as I've ever seen living here for 36 years. We have some other trees that get silly big like the oaks, pines, and poplars. I always ask my tree guy for stuff like 24" or less though because I'm just one guy with an 18" saw. A 30" log takes so much effort to work id rather have 2 x 15".

Agreed. I have never seen a cherry any bigger than the one in the pic. Big for cherry, yes. A big round....no.;lol

That we can agree on! As someone who predominatly splits by hand just looking at those gigantic knotted rounds on your tractor makes my back hurt.
