Will this pellet shortage make people want to sell their stoves?

Our attic has blown in insulation, not the walls though reason for this is we are undergoing a renovation project all the time (old house resto) and I would be fighting the blown in when working inside or removing walls. Every room we finish we do insulate, and our future plans of siding (when savings allows it) does include house wrap.

Our pellet stove was part of the plan to bring in as many heating sources as possible, we currently have 4.

Maybe some but they already weren't happy. When gas was in short supply we didn't all sell our cars. Good lesson for all to keep ahead. Tough on those living check to check.

I am probably selling mine only because NG is so much cheaper.

"Putin" a lot of faith in continued cheap supply of gas. Northern half of MN had a cold wake up call this winter when pipe blew in Manitoba.

Why would I want to sell my stove? The fact remains that I can't afford to heat with fuel oil

I am thinking about buying a pellet insert, I have a pellet stove in the basement that I love and want to get one for the fireplace upstairs. I was just wondering if this pellet shortage would make people think about other means of heating their homes and sell their stoves after the winter.?

Yes, I think that it will make *some* people decide to sell their pellet stoves. We have had 3 shortages in the mid-atlantic since 2008, and one was severe. I pass tens of thousands of trees on my way to work, and we have a pellet shortage??? No pellets = no heat. So this year I purchased an oil stove (burns diesel, kerosene or heating oil) as backup instead of having two pellet stoves. The flame is similar to the pellet stove in appearance. An alternative fuel stove made sense and it will be a bad day when diesel fuel is not available.
Definitely noticed more pellet stoves for sale lately on the local craigslist. And sales of stoves drop to zero at the two local stove stores when pellets are not available. Pellet shortages severely hurt stove sales and make little sense when commercial pellet mills are relatively inexpensive. Though pellets are a great "green" idea for renewable fuels, few comers seem to be stepping in to fill an ongoing void. And the current shortage will cause more people to overbuy early next season, creating another shortage (hopefully temporary) of supply next year.
Several friends who were going to upgrade their existing pellet stoves with new ones have decided not to because it makes no sense to buy a stove when they can not get fuel. Yes, shortages of fuel have a profound effect on the market. If I were a stove manufacturer you can bet I would be worried.

I purchased 2 stoves today, I will sit on them and sale them next winter, again I'm not sure if the price cut is due to (what is perceived) as a lack of pellets or just due to spring coming......

1-King / Ashley 48,000 BTU (Made by United States Stove Company ) $600
2- englander 35-PDVC brand new never fired $850

I figure it will be a quick AT LEAST $500 next winter and will pay for 2 ton of pellets
Like I said before if guys are gonna sale out, I'll capitalize on it !!

Her and I always talk about selling a rental and buying land for a camp, It would be a perfect time to buy land and a portable pellet mill and grind what we clear cut into pellets for us or to sale !!

Spring cleaning, Moving etc. I am seeing a lot of stoves coming up but that is usually spring fever and the start of planning on moving so try and sell before the need for heat is zero. Like buying air conditioner in September. Hope to get a Accentra for $900. That will be a nice stove to bring down to Florida to have coffee by and take the cool out in the morning.

The guy also has a Breckwell P24 for $1400, it was in his showroom this year for $2499 tag is still on it...........
I'll wait till next heating season when there is a stove frenzy, When I was shopping around this year even before it was
0used stoves would last for a few hours at top dollar and be gone !!
