Will my cherry and maple be ready for November 2010?

I cut, spit and stacked apprx. 3 cords of cherry in late November-early December 2010. It will be fully exposed to wind/sun until October when I plan to move it into the wood "shed"(yet to be built). I think cherry seasons farly quickly so it should be good to go? This past Saturday I c/s/s about a cord of sugar maple....wonder if it will be ready by the end of the year?
My "shed" is going to be exposed on all sides(3 sides with lattice work for some sort for eye appeal). I'm thinking of roofing with a few semi transparent fiberglass panels to allow sunlight into the top...good idea?

If we have a summer like last year not really, but if we have a good summer the Cherry should if its left out in the wind and sun.

I just realized I put the wrong date in there!! It should have read cherry was c/s/s in late Nov-early Dec 2009!!

The answer depends on several variables, including the size of the splits (length & thickness) and the amount of sun and wind this drying season. With regard to the cherry, there's a very good chance it will ready to go. The maple is a little iffy, but if the splits aren't too big and the weather is good, then it will probably be ready too.

Cherry definitely will be ready. Maple should but I'd save the maple until the cherry is gone and then burn it.

i think a roof that lets in sunlight might heat up the interior of the shed, which would help dry out the wood during the day. At night, probably doesn't make much difference. Get lattice that is mostly open space for good air circulation.
