Whose still waiting for their delivery?

Handsprings here Three pallets of Lacretes with my name on them arrived today. Now have to get them home. 65 bags per pallet - is that the norm for Lacretes?

Lots of things effect shipping and supply. Oil patch uses them for absorbents, raw material supply may be down, railcar availability may be reduced due to competition with shipping oil. http://www.producer.com/2014/09/railway-fined-for-delays/

Buying local might be an option for some but the only pellets available near here are industrial and are a 4-1/2 hour drive away - they have been earmarked for Ontario Hydro power generation. Indecks out of Wisconsin are ashy and not as hot and more expensive than the LaCretes from local suppliers. Trebios are usually available locally with supply through Wal-Mart being unstable (haven't seen much yet). LaCretes seems a no-brainer...

Edit: No year round availability for pellets here - I placed my order in the start of September, second on the list... so glad I had spares from last year

I thought they normally shipped 60 bags per pallet. 2400 pounds.

many of the Canadian brands ship 60 bags instead of 50 bags (2 extra rows). spruce pointe, north country, lacretes, etc....

Nice, a fellow Heady Topper fan! My local beer store 10 minutes away just started stocking this tasty elixer, if they were any fresher they would be brewed in my basement Now if I could just get the owner to start carrying pellets.

Quick sidebar: I can't get the stuff in Southern VT. We used to be able to, not any more. Had a work function in Burlington about a month ago. Dragged a co-worker and an outside Financial adviser to "Healthy Living" and stocked up. I bought a case. Pricey, but worth it.

i had a ton of lacretes delivered a couple weeks ago. 60 bags. believe me, i counted as i wheeled them from my driveway to the backyard, down the bulkhead...

i'm waiting on my 2nd and 3rd tons to be delivered. I ordered 3 the guy told me he'd get me one by the end of october and the rest later.... i'm not sure when later is...

My Orfords were sold and delivered at 1.5 ton per pallet (75 bags)

My LaCretes came as a 60 pack 'skid' as well. My delivery guy said that it is related to the maximum shipping weights they can legally carry. Total weight a truck can carry divided by the max number of pallets they can load on comes out to 2400 lbs per pallet, so they add 10 bags to the ton to maximize transport efficiency.

If I owned the pellet companies I would take a look at where the large market is located.

They know where it is..

If I could burn a pellet mix of say: paper, grass, leaves, and wood that is engineered to perform like other common pellets for half the cost I would be all over it. Who wouldn't?

The people that have tried it.

Soon enough they will be importing pellets from over seas...

That is a major reason why we have such a shortage now... We EXport so much more than we used to.

Trucking is a big issue as well. We have tons sitting on the ground in Canada, and no way to get
it trucked here... The truckers cannot bring loads down, without something to bring back.
The demand for product down here is so much larger than the demand for return trips...

We show LaCrete at a per ton price, $299, for comparison,
but they are shipped AND billed at 1.2 ton.... $359
We "may" get some 1 ton pallets in the future,
but so far they have all been 1.2 tons.

If that dealer thinks he is selling a ton, but isn't, then he is out some serious cash...

Called dealer tonight - was told that in not so few words he really couldn't tell me when they'd be delivered - that my product is there in their yard, I can come get some if I want out of my tons or wait till he has more deliveries in my area to make it worth his while to drive out here. I asked "what happens if you dont get more orders" he says "we'll figure something out".

I'm pissed - ordered shortly after Labor Day and still waiting. calling a few more places in the central mass area tomorrow and if anyone is still taking orders and they can commit to a reasonable delivery time (2 weeks or less) I'm canceling my current order and won't ever do business with the first knucklehead again. And he'll get a nasty write up on this site as well.

Maybe I'm blowing this out of proportion but when you quote me 1 - 5 weeks for delivery and we are now at 7 weeks and you can't give me even an estimate as to when I'll have my order, that's chitty service.

Nope I was charged $369for the 1.2 tons of LaCretes. I wish it was only 300 for the 1.2tons.

When I called an ordered 2 tons of Barefoot a week back I was told it would be about 4 weeks until they had them. But they came in early, being delivered today.

I suspect there's a bigger market in Europe because people are nervous about being so dependent on Russia for gas for heating. Three years back about this time we were visiting a Swiss mountain village that could only be reached by cable car. That car was busy hauling up bags of pellets, and a little golf-cart type truck was delivering them to the houses. Mostly whole-house furnaces in the basements there. That village likely didn't have a nat gas option, but even where there is one the situation with Russia isn't pretty.

You really can't blame your supplier. He's just relaying the info he is getting from his supplier.

I had 19.2 tons of pellets delivered about a month ago. That should get me through until next fall. I heating two duplexes including DHW.

How do you figure if he is being truthful when telling me that my product has been there at his yard for the last 3 weeks ??

In any event called Royal Fireside in Mendon tonight - they have the same pellets, put in an order and they confirmed they would have delivered to me on Wednesday 10/29 - 4 day turn around.

Here in my area (Finger Lakes) in Western NY seems to be a slight shortage. Local Lowes has a 2 ton limit per household. My supplier, whom I've used for the past 4 years for Barefoot & Curran softies didn't order the Curran softwood this year as they would be over $300 ton.

As far as the Barefoot pellets, I ordered 4 tons for $260 ton delivered on Sept 3rd and he said they would be out in late Sept. I contacted him on Sept 26th & he said they would be out "next week." "Next week" came and went & he then said they will be in on Oct 13th & he would get them out on then. This also didn't happen and as of this past Thursday 23rd still no Barefoot. I contacted the supplier this past Thurs & he said he still did not have the pellets in & didn't seem to know when (or if) they would get them.

Not wanting to chance the when/if scenario, I cancelled the order & found some AWF Ultra Premium White Pine pellets for $4.99 bag, or $239.50 a ton. Only bad part was the company had no delivery, but the delivery person (me) didn't charge.

Ordered from woodpellets.com like we do every year, 2 neighbors and I split a large delivery. We ordered 9/24 still waiting. Email said no later than 11/15. We'll see. Luckily I have 25 bags left from last season.

I feel for everyone up there. I do not understand why the pellet situation is what it is for you all. Makes no sense to me whatsoever. A larger following here on the forum are pellet burners up there in areas where people are having issues getting them. What a fiasco!

If I owned the pellet companies I would take a look at where the large market is located. Sure the price per bag might be a bit higher due to shipping a longer distance. More simply, why have to ship that far to begin with. If donuts were unable to be supplied for the demand you would think they would open more bakeries in town. Especially, if there are tons of people willing to buy more and they can not even get them. Go figure!

Sounds and looks like a bunch of red tape and crap is going on. Where is anyone's common sense and decent courtesy these days? I just do not understand why everything has to be so backwards, redundant, and counter productive. There is no shortage on junk pellets can be or are made from. The possibilities are limitless to a degree. If I could burn a pellet mix of say: paper, grass, leaves, and wood that is engineered to perform like other common pellets for half the cost I would be all over it. Who wouldn't? Even if I had to do a stove modification spending some money in order to burn these new cheaper pellets made from whatever. Soon enough they will be importing pellets from over seas that we will buy made of material shipped from here to begin with. Rant over.

It's only really an issue for those that waited until now to buy pellets. When I bought mine in April, my dealer's lot was bursting with pellets.
