I had a Tecumsah sno-king motor in my last Ariens snowblower is was steady as a rock. I probably should've kept it, but the new one, same width, 24", was easier to turn for the one time my wife used it. The new one has a Briggs and I don't think it has the same ooooph. I also think they made reverse slower.
An interesting thing happened last time I used it. It went sideways a fair amount on some ice based snow banks. Later I noticed what appeared to be blood, actually oil, drips on the snow. I'm thinking oil came out of the crankcase somehow. Hasn't snowed enough to use it since and there doesn't seem to be oil on the garage floor.
