Who's done cutting till fall?

Until Fall, ha... I was done over a year ago with cutting until next year. I do around two years worth at a time and did two years back-to-back so did four years worth in the last two years. Got enough in the shed for 2010/2011 and enough sitting outside for 2011/2012.
Eye just got dun filling the shed Sunday with wood eye processed about 6-7 years ago and still got a year worth under Goodyear just outside the shed. My oldest heap of wood is gone now. Will have to get into a dif heap of wood eye cut about 4 years ago for 12-13.
I am done playing in the woods but I have several large pines that will come down in the yard and processed for shoulder seasons and bonfires. I also will scrounge all summer long. I figure I have 2 seasons already split and dried and 1 seasons worth ready to be split, but I'm greedy.
Unfortunatly, I've had broncitis for 8 weeks of hell and still no sign that it's going to leave for good. Now the family's getting it! I love getting wood in the spring but this year will have to pass. I do have a huge Locust for me to get when I'm ready. Fortunatly I have about enough to get through next winter anyway.

I'll haven't started yet cutting my wood for next winter. Got lots left from last winter so it won't be much of a chore. My biggest concern is to make sure I get my wood cut before the forest fire season starts.
As for wood being too dry, I live in a drier climate than most people in this forum, if my wood doesn't get "too dry" (it doesn't) then I doubt anybody here will have to worry about it.

Of course wood can be too dry, but not wood that has been cut, split and stacked outdoors. Even wood that is stacked in a wood shed. It was not long ago that we had to remove some wood from a woodshed. It had been in there for 10 years or a little more. It was white ash and it burned beautifully.
Simply put, we do not worry about wood getting too dry. Like rdust states, not in our climate. In the past several years we've been burning wood that has been in the stack 6-7 years covered on the top only. It burns nicely.
One could get carried away though with certain wood depending on how it has been split. For example, one would not want to load up his stove with kindling made from pine or even soft maple. That for sure would cause some over firing. I won't even load my stove full with soft maple for fear it might overfire. What I do is put a soft maple or maybe 2 in the bottom front of the stove and the rest with ash. It creates a beautiful fire and we stay nice and warm. A bonus is no fear of creosote in the chimney.
Not done here. Neighbor two doors down had me drop 3 trees. Maple, looks like I will come out with 1 cord plus. A local tree service guy I hooked up with has been dropping loads, cord + each time w/ heavy pine mix. Take the bad with the good, this guy has shown up w/ 4-5 loads of oak, maple, ash, etc. So, I will sift thru them all. Damn sweet when you hear the back-up alarm, and it's dumped in your backyard.

I just stopped splitting as much. I hit it for little while every few nights. I have allot of other things going on.
I am waiting untill the damn black flies calm down. Ticks are real bad this year as well. I have about 4 cords of Red Oak cut split and stacked from last spring, I have about a face cord of Maple cut and split around the same time. I have about 8 cord mix of Cherry, Black Walnut, and White Ash that I cut over the winter. I need to start splitting it and getting it stacked. We are suposed to have some nasty weather comeing in tomorrow, maybe I will be able to scrounge some more up.
Done? Neh. Firewoodin's my hobby. And a source of a little extra cash. Got 2 cords left from this year and about 6 seasoned out back after sellen to my few customers. Prolly about 3 cords in log length to buck up out in the woods that I'll lollygag over during the next month or so. Prolly nab a bit here and there from folks that want windfalls cleaned up over the summer before getting into high gear after labor day.
I'm looking forward to the cooler temps later this weekend to get out and scrounge another cord or so. I think everytime it gets to 70 or less @ midday I'll be gathering the equipment and hopping onto the tractor looking for something to cut and bring home.

Mostly just splitting and stacking what's accumulated. I don't like stacking very much, or making cribs to keep the ordinance types off my case.
I will probably cut a bit more in July if the ground gets hard enough.
I'm also going to detail clean the saws, wash/was the truck. Lighter work for the hotter days.

I'm done with my own firewood cutting. Total is about 9 cord of red maple, white birch and black ash, with ash making up the majority. Another day's splitting, and a day or so of stacking and it'll be time to relax, let summer come in and watch the wood dry. Well, I'm only really done cutting until the phone rings and someone wants a tree taken out.

I'm still going. I'm not far enough ahead to stop, plus I still have some grass showing in the yard. That means there's more room for wood. Cut and split a facecord of poplar yesterday.
Well, I thought I was going to cut some more over the weekend with the cooler temps...but it was just too windy! Makes me nervous under the big trees in 40+ mph winds....wearing hearing protection doesn't allow me to hear the snap of a large branch coming down. I did take a walk though and I saw several more smaller cherry down that I'll be scrounging soon.
Not done here either. I haven't cut much for a month or two, but a friend up the street has several Red Maples we plan to cut one of these days, and I'll take any other firewood that comes my way. I don't mind working in the summer heat, but there are a lot of other things to get done in summer, so I end up not cutting wood as much as I do in the winter.
