New owners haven't moved in yet. This is around the corner a few houses down. When I drove by 5 minutes ago, a worker was cuttin' and loading......at least some of its not going in the chipper.
UGH!
It should be easy to find out who the landowner is, just check property records wherever those records are. Here it would be the local Land Registration office. County/municipality office? May be a small search fee to pay - but then at least you will know so the guessing game can end and then go right to them. Or have somebody you know who should have access check for you - like a lawyer or surveyor or real estate person etc..
I have seen those 500+ hp chippers in action - whole tree gone in a a second or 2 -There is a huge chipper on site. I checked the town land map, it list the electric company as the owner of the property....I can't watch, gotta take a different route to work

I'm torn on how to handle this. The electric company is clearing way for addition power lines, and have about 30 bucked logs 30-40 feet long off the side of the road (more than 4 feet, beyond...more like 6 feet). I had written them prior to the start of the project, and they emailed me stating that they offer the wood to those whose property abut the project. My property is around the corner, not abutting the project, and if nobody is on site over this holiday weekend, I was considering burning some two cycle on the logs....it's right there....it's killing me !......what are your thoughts ?....go for it ?
The clearing company that cleared the last job I was on had a 1000 hp table grinder. Like you said, gone in seconds. Ask the guys, maybe they will leave you some. I always ask the clearing guys to leave me a few logs. Work scores are awesome, haul it home in the work truck. I got almost 2 cord black locust back in the spring, a truck load at a time. Cut every day after work and hauled it homeI have seen those 500+ hp chippers in action - whole tree gone in a a second or 2 -
I hate when I see this. You are paying taxes for this nonsense. Our municipality is cutting all the Ash trees down and chipping everything. They won’t give it away because they’d have to put it up for tender etc etc. What a waste

Write a letter to your municipality supervisors (who you elect) about this. Explain politely that it is wasteful use of tax dollars and harmful to he environment to run that huge chipper to grind up the trees. Ask them to amend the policy to better reflect the interest of the electorate.
My guess is that the employees just don't want to be hassled, and/or they've run into plenty of flakes who didn't follow through, and they've had to go back to job sites.
Remember, it's your municipality, and your tax dollars that are funding this. You might not be able to change it, but, you might if you're willing to get involved.
You should have knocked on their door the moment you saw it. That would be quite a score.
The puppy in my avatar isnow a 110lb beast now and he’d chase you right out if you came on my property without permission- If you can get away fast enough. But if you had my permission I would put him in the crate for you. Anytime I see people within steps of my boundaries I send him out. You should see people run lol.
Makes sense, I hadn't thought of that. They chip the ash to kill the borer and help stop it's spread, not to deny you firewood. Sucks, but it's true.
Fair question. Then how would someone ever knock on your door to ask permission for anything?
Sounds very welcoming! I bet your neighbors and delivery folks love paying you a visit.Fair question.
My dog knows my neighbors, and if I see or hear myy dog barking I go to the door. If they are legitimate they holler to me and I call him inside if I want that person to come to my door. However, if you’re wanting to speak to me and you’re not my neighbor there’s a 99% chance your a solicitor or up to no good. My dog also knows the Fedex, UPS and mailmen. You can walk my driveway and get close enough to my house to speak to me through my front door because I don’t want my dog hit by a car in my driveway. Twice of in the last 2 years there have been kids breaking into cars in my area, but not mine and one of my neighbor’s cars- he has a big dog too.
I hope everyone is having a happy holiday.
UGH!
Come on man your wasting time.Find out if it's ok to get some of that wood or it'll be history.UGH!
