I think I'll stick with free and use the ove glove that I already have. It works for my situation. I dont reach far back into the stove, or at least I havent had to so far this year and dont expect too. I load NS and only need to be able to grab flamin logs that are near the door occasionally. Maybe when I become more complacent with the stove I will get burned and change my tune

I have a pair of welder's gloves and they really come in handy. I have a small firebox and with the gloves on I can reach into a (very) hot firebox and pack splits in really well when I re-load. I can grab of burning log with them if I need to. These gloves go up to my elbows and offer complete protection. I can't imagine loading without them.
Get burned at least twice a month. Nothing serious thankfully. The wife just got me a pair of gloves being the nurse that she is.
I can be confident that I'll get at least one little blister sometime this winter. It's just what happens when you are working around a hot device like this on a continuous basis.

Speaking of this, I just burned myself on my forearm. Where were the gloves? Right next to the stove. Why didn't I wear them? I thought to myself, "I'll just be careful so I don't have to wear the gloves". Lol
I haven't burned anything except my left thumb, which happens when I try and shut the left door on the Isle Royale when it's really hot. Why they built that thing with no way to shut that side without finding a stick of wood or pulling a sleeve down as a heat pad is beyond me. Yeah, yeah, I've got the welding gloves, but you actually expect me to wear them? LOL!
In 18 yrs. without ever wearing gloves I've never zapped myself with the stove. This will probably be the year, lol. Sure, I've had that immediate jerk your hand away moment but nothing that left a real burn or blister.

I'd wear welding gloves...but I like to keep that crisp red "just stayed out in the sun a little to long" look going on my forewarms all winter.
