I have a Defiant Encore, and the gasket around the griddle lid is coming loose. So I went to Amazon and got what I thought was a new griddle gasket kit, but I wasn't paying close enough attention. It didn't come with any cement.

So I went to Home Depot and asked for it, but the guy wasn't very knowledgeable (neither am I) and he showed me something on his little pocket-size computer gizmo and the name Rutland sounded familiar so I bought a tube of Rutland Furnace Cement. When I got home, I thought - wait a minute, what does the Amazon page show for the cement, and it showed Rutland Stove Gasket Cement, which sounds more like what I should get.

But they look to be almost identical. See the pictures I lifted from Amazon.

Is there a significant difference? Should I just go with what I already bought, or should I go for the really right thing, and which would that be?

Still with me? This feels sort of embarrassing . . . .

You should have gasket cement. Furnace cement is intended to fill gap/cracks up to certain width.. Not intended for fixing gaskets.

Go to Rutland website. Each product comes with good description/explanation.
