So should I put as much Roxul up into the void as possible or just enough to seal the opening just above the blockoff plate?
Ok so I had my first fire today after installing a blockoff plate. I kept the top surround piece off to make sure everthing was working well and notice how much heat was reflecting back into the room from that opening. I then put the surround back on and lost the heat from that area obviously. I was wondering about install some type of vents on that surround plate. What do you think has anyone done this?
What did you use for vents?
There is a link to a vent supplier in the thread I mentioned earlier.
I couldn't find the link for the vents. Is there any drawbacks to open up and vent the upper surround plate and take advantage of the heat trapped behind the surround? I would think the manufacturer would of done this if it makes things better.
